If you’ve had your eyes on social media or the news this past weekend then you may have seen the ridiculous craze that is sweeping the globe as people everywhere attempt the #BellyButtonChallenge.
Starting in China the craze to prove how ‘fit and thin’ you are took over and sparked debates online throughout the weekend. The Belly button challenge requires the person to reach around their back and waist and touch their own belly button – what the…Ouch! The outcome: touching your belly button in this body-bending, mind-boggling way signifies your health and fit levels… Hmmmm…Riiiiight.
Well here at Curvy Kate HQ we think that this is a load of old tosh and there are a heck of a lot more important things to be checking on your body than whether your arms are flexible enough to reach all the way around your own torso.
So welcome the #BoobsOverBellyButtons movement! We want to encourage you guys to check your boobs and get to know what normal feels like…rather than doing these ridiculous body-shaming (and downright painful) demonstrations.
As Curvy Kate are MASSIVE supporters of UK Breast Cancer Awareness charity Coppafeel! we wanted to show that their boob-checking message is far more important and worth spending time doing. (Plus who doesn’t like having a good feel of their boobs!) Over the weekend we rallied together some of the Curvy Kate girls, including myself to share pictures of us checking our boobs rather than our belly buttons… have a little look below!
We think it is a far more sensible and useful way to spend your time! Taking just 2 minutes to check your boobs and get to know them could potentially be a lifesaving exercise (Find full details of how to check your boobs here).
So let’s share it! Let’s shame the body-shaming challenges (back at ya!) and love ourselves just the way we are.
So, what do you think of the #Bellybuttonchallenge? Do you think checking your boobs is a more important message? If so, we’d love to see your pictures of you copping-a-feel, so make sure you join the movement by posting online and using #BoobsOverBellyButtons and tag @CurvyKate/@CurvyKatePR on Twitter and Instagram.
If you want to find out more about Coppafeel! and their A-mazing work to raise awareness of checking your boobs then visit coppafeel.org to get involved. Now let’s get copping and sharing!!!
