Create a Curvy Kate Competition
In 2010 Curvy Kate teamed up with De Montfort University to find the next big thing in the fuller cup lingerie world.
As the only Contour Design course in the UK, the design students were set the task to create a DD+ piece to fit the brand’s fashionable and fun image, whilst keeping our focus of fit, comfort and support.

After 10 weeks of market research, technical analysis and trend forward designing, all 37 students brought their pieces forward to be judged by the Curvy Kate team and Lingerie Buyer magazine. The array of talent was overwhelming and each student showed creative flair, a professional eye and most importantly a great understanding of the fuller cup market.
Winner 2010 - Sarah Greenwood
Sarah not only wowed us with her colourful designs, intricate details and innovative ideas but also the depth of her work. She providing costings, detailed analysis of her research and impressive design boards.
By adding zips, new knicker styles and a side sling bra design, Sarah showed a great understanding of the brand and also created a very different concept and look.
“I really enjoyed designing for Curvy Kate. Pattern cutting for a plus size bra is more challenging but it gave me better understanding of how important the fit is.”
Sarah Greenwood
Sarah joined the Curvy Kate team in Paris this summer at Salon International where her project was displayed at the Curvy Kate stand.
Many congratulations to Sarah and we look forward to introducing her design in our Autumn 2011 collection.
The Create a Curvy Kate project will be an annual search to source new talent for the lingerie design industry, specifically focusing on larger cup sizes. Many of the students go on to work with the Curvy Kate team on freelance or work experience opportunities.
