Breasts - they are powerful things! Take a look at our list of 11 famous 'boob moments'. From wardrobe malfunctions to artistic uses these mammary glands have certainly made an impact...

1.Pamela Anderson in THAT Baywatch Bikini

Pamela Anderson became a household name and instant sex symbol in 1992 when she played the role of C.J Parker in Baywatch. The show became the highest rated program worldwide and many would suggest this is down to the frequent shots of busty Pamela running along the beach in her tight red swimsuit.

2. Judy Finnegan giving the nation more than just an acceptance speech.

Judy Finnegan’s wardrobe malfunction at the National Television Awards in 2011 has gone down in history as one of the greatest boob shocks in history. Unknown to Judy (and husband Richard) the TV presenter’s breasts popped out of her strapless dress when accepting their award at the event. An embarrassing moment for Judy, but at least she was wearing a bra! The Curvy Kate team have been reminiscing over this piece of TV gold in the office this week.

Every girl needs a go-to strapless bra, we would recommend our Luxe strapless in Black or Biscotti! - Don't do a Judy.

3. Jasmine Tridevil: The 3-Boobed Woman

In 2014 Jasmine revealed her unusual breast surgery to the world. The 21 year old from Tampa, Florida, (real name thought to be Alisha Hessler) shocked the world with the unveiling of her third boob. Some sceptics have called the third breast ‘a hoax,’ claiming it is a wearable prosthetic. Jasmine has responded to these rumours by saying, “I know my breasts are real and I do not care what anybody thinks.”

Implant or not, Jasmine certainly caused quite a stir.

4. Angelina Jolie's double mastectomy

Angleina-Jolie-double-mastectomy

In May 2013, Angelina Jolie revealed she had undergone a double mastectomy after discovering she carries a genetic mutation that dramatically increases the chance of being diagnosed with potentially fatal breast cancer.

The genetic mutation left the mother-of-six with an estimated 87 per cent risk of breast cancer and 50 per cent risk of ovarian cancer. Undergoing the operation and speaking about it publicly was a brave move from Jolie. She highlighted the risks of breast cancer and the importance of knowing your body and taking the right steps to protect yourself. With such a huge celebrity profile, Jolie’s treatment may have served as a tipping point for furthering knowledge and awareness around the world, which can only be a positive thing. We at Curvy Kate, aim to help spread this message by working alongside Coppafeel! They are a charity who aim to stop the late detection of breast cancer by ensuring that people know the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, and how to check for irregularities. This year we teamed up with Co ppafeel for the #BraHijack campaign.

5. Claridge's Boob over Breastfeeding

So this one is less about boobs shocking the world, and more about other peoples reaction to them. In December 2014, Louise Burns was told to cover herself and her baby’s head with a large napkin whilst breastfeeding her child at Claridge's in London. The story made national news and sparked debate about attitudes towards breastfeeding in public.

In response to the event, a group of 40 mothers staged a mass breastfeed outside the restaurant. The demonstration set out to challenge the stigma around breastfeeding in public, highlighting that it is completely natural and women should not be made to feel uncomfortable. The 2010 Equality Act makes it unlawful for a business to discriminate against a breastfeeding woman.

6. Marie Antoinette vs Moss

Legend has it that the first champagne coupe that was made in the 18th century was modeled on Marie Antoinette's left breast. Although this is highly disputed, it’s a great rumour and one that inspired artist Jane McAdam to create a new version of the glass in 2014. McAdam’s designed a coupe glass modeled on Kate Moss’s left breast to celebrate her 25 years working in the fashion industry, courtesy of London restaurant 34.

If glasses were modeled on some of our Curvy Kate girls, they might look more like these:

7. #FreeTheNipple

Free The Nipple is a film and an equality movement that started in the U.S.A and has gained considerable media coverage this year. The movement is described online as 'a mission to empower women across the world by standing against female oppression and censorship.' The hashtag #FreeTheNipple has gone viral, causing lots of interest and debate around the subject of women's rights to bear their nipples in public. Around the world people have taken part in GoTopless Day, in a bid to desexualise the naked female nipple and gain equal rights for men and women to be topless in public. This relates back to Number 5 as the movement aims to address the legal right for all women to breastfeed in public, something that is illegal in parts of America and around the world.

What do you Curvy Kate girls think to the Free The Nipple Campaign??

8. Cones VS Pasty:

When thinking of memorable boob outfits, these two ladies sprung to mind quite quickly. Not one to shy away from outrageous outfits, Lil Kim wore this boob-baring catsuit to the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards. Madonna wore this pink silk Jean-Paul Gaultier number during her 1990 Blond Ambition tour. An overly engineered version of a bullet bra, the style became iconic and the brassiere was sold for $52,000 at an auction in 2012.

9. Painting by Knockers

American artist, Marcey Hawk is famous for her works of art created with her boobs. The artist uses her 30D breasts instead of brushes to create her paintings, some of which she has sold to Hugh Hefner and Russell Brand.

But Marcey isn't the only one to have put her breasts to work on the canvas. Irina Romanovskaya, from St Petersburg, made the news after painting a portrait of Vladimir Putin with her chest. Her technique is slightly different to Marcey's - She paints onto her naked breast, and then presses the paper against herself. Romanovskaya has been quoted of saying that she hopes her work will attract the attention of politicians to 'the role of artists in society.'

10. Jessica Rabbit

The seductive cartoon rabbit first hit our TV screens in the 1980's and was a huge hit with the public. Wife to Roger Rabbit, Jessica was voted The Sexiest Cartoon Character in a survey carried out by Dairy Milk in 2009. Betty Boop came second, followed by the Caramel Bunny in third.

The survey found that most people found body shape was the most alluring quality in a female cartoon character, while others said large enticing eyes and a memorable voice were important attributes. Jessica's voluptuous figure, tight red dress and long red hair have made her an iconic character - Proving even cartoon boobs are great!
